About
We are a small Planning Consultancy with a wealth of experience providing expert professional advice to private and public sector clients on the planning and development process on sites throughout the UK. We pride ourselves on providing a personal and professional service which is sometimes lost in larger practices.
The team provides robust and friendly advice on development proposals in many cities and works directly for land owners, promotors, developers, architects and project managers. Our role is to provide general and technical planning advice working with the architectural and technical teams assembled. We are the interface with the Local Planning Authorities and aim to help navigate clients through the planning process or provide assistance to third parties.
The company was established in October 2020 and has gone from strength to strength working on some very high profile regeneration sites across the UK both leading and supporting other planning consultancies.
In early 2024, we were delighted to learn that we were awarded the status of “Leading Planning and Architecture Practice” by Global 100, SME 500 UK, Lawyer International Legal 100 and M&A Today Global.
In June 2024, we were further honoured by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) which commended Pearce Planning as “Small Planning Consultancy of the Year 2024” (South West region) in their Awards for Planning Excellence. This recognition is testament to our team ethos of going above and beyond for our clients.

Mr Alan Pearce MRTPI
Founder & Managing Director
Alan is a chartered Town Planner with over 28 years experience in the private sector. He has worked on behalf of developers, landowners, land promoters, business owners, local authorities, development agencies and charities providing expert planning consultancy advice and managing the development process on sites throughout the UK.
He has a particular expertise in urban regeneration having worked on development proposals in city centre sites across the country and promoted land for redevelopment. Over the past 15 years Alan has established himself as a leading consultant in Bristol and SW and Wales and has considerable knowledge of the PBSA Student Sector.
When not working, Alan has a very full family life with four young daughters and a cockapoo puppy named Teddy. Alan enjoys most sports, music and drumming, and has been lovingly restoring the family home, a grade II listed 1842 property which was formerly a Boys school.

Mr Karl Scholz MRTPI
Associate
Karl is a chartered Town Planner with over 20 years’ experience in a mix of public and private sector roles in the USA, England and Wales.
He has particular experience in the HE/FE sector, having worked on projects for the University of the West of England, the University of South Wales, the University of Gloucestershire and Bath College.
Outside of work, Karl also has a very full family life with a son and a daughter, as well as two rescue dogs named Darwin and Bruno.
Karl enjoys various outdoor activities with the family, though now struggles to keep up with his son when cycling! He has recently obtained British Citizenship, thus now taking a full interest in the politics of both the UK and USA.

Mrs Nicola Sully MRTPI
Principal Planner
Nicola is a chartered Town Planner with 15 years experience in the private sector working with Alan and Karl at Alder King before joining Pearce Planning.
She has extensive experience working with developers and landowners, providing expert planning consultancy advice and managing the development process on sites throughout the UK. Nicola has detailed knowledge of permitted development rights and has dealt with minor and major planning proposals co-ordinating submissions and making representations.
Outside of work, Nicola enjoys her family life and has two young girls.

Mrs Lisa Pearce
Human Resources / Administration
Lisa provides invaluable support on the Administration of the business and Human Resources.
Lisa also manages our family business, Cornwall Cottages Ltd which can be found here.
Lisas most important role in the business however, is managing the planners of tomorrow - Belle, Roxy, Elsie and Autumn.

Teddy
Our family dog and elaborate foot warmer!
Teddy joined our family about the same time as Pearce Planning was established. He does no work and just wants to play fetch. However, he is being scent trained to find sites.
